The Best Job Boards for Employers in 2026 (US, Global and Niche)

SortList Team·August 8, 2026·10 min read

There are thousands of job boards. Perhaps eight of them matter for any given role. The skill is not posting everywhere — it is knowing which two or three boards your specific candidates actually read, and then being fast enough to respond when they apply.

Here is the 2026 landscape, grouped by what each board is genuinely good for.

The big general-purpose boards

LinkedIn

LinkedIn remains the default for professional, managerial, and senior hiring, and the only one where passive sourcing works properly. Expensive, and worth it for roles where the best candidates are not looking.

Indeed

Indeed has the largest raw traffic of any job site and budget-based pricing on sponsored posts. Best for volume: operations, support, sales, retail, and logistics. Expect to screen a lot of applications, which is precisely the problem AI screening solves.

ZipRecruiter

ZipRecruiter distributes one post across a network of boards and pushes matches to candidates rather than waiting for them to search. Consistently rated among the strongest US hiring sites.

Glassdoor

Glassdoor is where candidates check you out before applying, which makes it as much an employer-brand channel as a job board. Now closely tied to Indeed.

Google for Jobs, Monster and CareerBuilder

Google for Jobs is not a board you post to — it aggregates structured job postings from your own careers page, so marking those up properly is free distribution. Monster and CareerBuilder — now merged into a single business — are past their peak but still perform in specific regions and industries.

Tech and startup boards

  • Built In — strong in US tech hubs, good for engineering and product roles with an employer-brand angle.
  • Dice — the long-running US tech generalist, particularly for infrastructure, security, and contract IT.
  • Wellfound — the startup board formerly known as AngelList Talent, with salary and equity bands published upfront. Free listings make it an easy first post.
  • Welcome to the Jungle — now home to Otta, curating mid-senior tech and product roles with strong salary transparency.
  • Hired — a reverse marketplace where vetted tech and sales candidates are presented to you.

Remote-first boards

  • We Work Remotely — the longest-running remote board, strongest in engineering, design, and customer success.
  • FlexJobs — every listing is manually vetted, which is why candidates trust it in a category full of scams.

Design and creative

  • Dribbble — portfolio-first hiring for UI, UX, and product designers.
  • Behance — broader creative reach across brand, motion, and illustration.

India

India runs on a different set of platforms, and getting this mix right matters more than any global board:

  • Naukri — the largest job portal in India by a wide margin, with the deepest résumé database. The default for experienced hiring across sectors.
  • Foundit (formerly Monster India) and Shine — solid secondary coverage for mid-level roles.
  • Apna — the fastest option for frontline, fresher, and tier-2/3 city hiring.
  • Instahyre and Cutshort — curated tech hiring with far less noise than the general portals.
  • Internshala — the standard for interns and campus hiring.

Free options worth using

  • Handshake — free basic posting reaching over a thousand university career centres. The best free channel for graduate hiring.
  • Wellfound — unlimited free listings for startups.
  • Your own careers page — the only channel you own, the only one with no per-post cost, and the one Google for Jobs indexes directly.

How to choose your mix

A practical rule: one broad board for reach, one niche board for quality, plus your own careers page. Three channels, measured properly, beat twelve channels you cannot attribute.

Then measure per source, not in aggregate:

  • Applications per source
  • Percentage that pass screening — the number that actually matters
  • Interviews and offers per source
  • Cost per hire per source

Most teams discover that their highest-volume board is not their highest-quality one, and quietly rebalance their budget.

The bottleneck is not posting — it is responding

Posting to more boards makes the real problem worse. A single job on Indeed can pull 250+ applications, and the strongest candidates are typically hired within days. If it takes you a week to work through the pile, the boards were never the constraint.

SortList pulls candidates from 20+ sources into one pipeline, screens every application against your job description automatically, and books the interviews — so a bigger top of funnel does not mean a slower process. See how it works.
